Bill Cassidy — YES on RFK Jr. for HHS Secretary

Bill / measure
Confirmation of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as Secretary of Health and Human Services (Senate Roll Call Vote 52, Feb. 13, 2025)
How they voted
Yes
Why it's spineless

Bill Cassidy is a physician who once led hepatitis B vaccination campaigns. In the hearings he implored Kennedy to disavow the debunked vaccines-cause-autism theory — and ended by admitting he was "struggling" with the vote. After private assurances from Kennedy and the White House, he voted YES anyway. Months later, amid the worst U.S. measles outbreak in decades, Cassidy admitted the bargain failed: "(Trump and Kennedy) didn't hold up the bargain. I wish I hadn't made the bargain."

Caught in their own words

he needs officials with the expertise and vision to carry out his agenda, while also increasing transparency, restoring trust, and ensuring that science, not politics, drives decision-making.
